A Little Normalcy

In a convenience store today, and the brace of folks in front of me wanted some hot food from the case. No stranger to this game, the clerk went down the line asking if anyone else wanted hot food.

“Nope. Cold beer; not hot food.”

The gentleman next to me seemed confused by the question, and I turned to him and said “Comida caliente?” (Sorry, keyboard no habla.) He quickly shook his head and “No.” Then turned to me and said “Thank you.” Head-bow in return.

Now, isn’t that the way things are supposed to be? People helping people, united by a common societal understanding? Help out where you can; shut up when you can’t; and the ability to recognize the difference. AKA ‘The Serenity Prayer’. Good advice. It’s the last part that’s hard to actualize. People just aren’t good at that. Overcoming internal bias, and all. Every living thing is internally biased, Critical Race Theory claims to the contrary. Important to recognize, and hard to overcome. A few million years of evolution will have their sway.

Everyone wants to live in their own universe. It’s the nature of our perception. Any society is the communal agreement to a common reality, or illusion.

“And we have just one world

But we live in different ones”

1985 Dire Straits Brothers In Arms Knopfler

Why does your world have to be so hateful, that one person can’t be kind to another without all kinds of fabricated imagery? Get off it. No one wants it, and you don’t even like it.
